Unused Annual Leave | UAE Guideline

Unused annual leave in the UAE can be carried over to the next year. But only partially. Specifically, a worker may carry over no more than half of the annual leave to the next year. Alternatively, the worker can agree with the employer to be paid in lieu of the annual leave. The amount of which is based on the total wage, received at the time of leave entitlement, instead of the Basic Wage. This in accordance with the UAE Employment Law №33 of 2021, Article 29. As well as the UAE Cabinet Resolution №1 of 2022, Article 19.
